Tidewater area is known for many things and is full of rich history!  This weekend boasted the 37th annual Norfolk HARBORFEST!  This region’s wealth and livelihood is owed a lot to its connection to the local waterways, ships and military.  Over a quarter century ago when the Norwegian Tall Ship Chiristian Radich came to call on Norfolk, a waterfront community. The ship docked there and over the next few days its gangway was crossed by over 13000 people!!! Soon in the years to come  more ships would com and a waterfront public park was established to accommodate and that is when the Norfolk Harborfest was born.  Now over a half million visitors from all over gather in downtown Norfolk to enjoy this Nautical tradition and celebration!  They celebrate through festivities, children’s activities, fire works and so much more. This year the friday events were cancelled due to weather, but rain and wind did not thwart the plans of saturday and sunday!  Everyone enjoyed themselves.  Check out my photo gallery of all the fun. harborfest2013
