A Cheered Up Charlie
Surprisingly, the usually outspoken and outlandish Charlie Sheen gave very little to the 63rd Annual Emmy Awards. No jokes, no skit, no clever anecdotes, no nothing! I’m sure many in the audience, and at the home, were sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for that epic Charlie Sheen moment to become a trending topic on twitter. Much to everyone’s surprise that moment came when a quiet Sheen stepped up to the mic to announce the award for “Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series”, but not before he delivered some unexpected words of encouragement to his former cast-mates of “Two and a Half Men.”
“Thank you.” “Before I present Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, my old category, I want to take a moment to get something off my chest and say a few words to everybody here from Two and a Half Men. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but the best for this upcoming season. We spent eight wonderful years together and I know you will continue to make great television. Now, on to the Emmy.”
Talk about cleaning up your act. This guy, who not too long ago needed to pop a piece of “orbit gum” into his dirty mouth every two seconds, made a 360 change. It’s good to hear his voice outside of an angry rant.
So what do you guys think? Was this genuine and heartfelt or just a PR move?
Either way, I think it’s a big help to Charlie’s image.
